Unreserved sites are available for first-come, first-serve stays the day of arrival. Hike or bike approximately 2.2 miles from the Wassataquoik Gate to the Esker Campsite. This campsite is located in a forested area on the bank of Wassataquoik Stream. Getting there: From the intersection of Maine State Route 11 and Swift Brook Road in Stacyville, it is approximately 12 miles to the Katahdin Loop Road. From the start of the Loop Road, it is approximately 5.5 miles to the parking area at the Wassataquoik Gate. From the parking area, hike or bike approximately 2.2 miles to the Esker Campsite.
