Free camping

Dispersed camping area · Bureau of Land Management Fees: No fee The Tail Race Campground features three campsites with fire rings and a vault toilet. This campground is wedged between Fontenelle Reservoir and Seedskadee National Wildlife Refuge, and so makes a fantastic site for birding, fishing, or non-motorized water sports. Historically, this area was a gathering place for trappers during their annual rendezvous, and the modern day explorer can still see the lure of such a rich and welcoming area. Getting there: Located 1/4 mile south of Fontenelle Reservoir on the east side of the Green River. To access the campground, travel east on Highway 372 for one mile, cross the Green River Bridge, then immediately turn north for four miles. Turn west before the dam to the river and go one mile further.
