Campground · Recreation Sites and Trails BC A semi-open, forested campsite with 5 sites available for tents/small RV's/trailers located near the village of Telkwa. This site sits near the confluence of Jonas Creek and the beautiful Telkwa River, an important headwater system for salmon and steelhead. Popular for hunting and fishing during the fall months, please consult BC hunting/fishing regulations for more information. Also, a popular staging area for offroad vehicles doing the infamous Telkwa Pass! Please avoid taking vehicles down to the river as it disturbs fish/wildlife habitat and be aware of the eroding river bank danger. In Canada, fish habitat is protected under the Federal Fisheries Act. Any alteration, disruption or destruction of fish habitat is a violation of the Fisheries Act. Violations can be reported to Fisheries and Oceans Canada at 1-800-465-4336 or to the provincial RAPP line at 1-877-952-7277… Getting there: From Highway 16 in Telkwa, turn onto Hankin Ave which turns into Riverside Street as you cross the bridge over the Bulkley River. Stay on the same road and it turns into Telkwa Coalmine Rd. Stay right on Telkwa Coalmine road until you see the turn for Telkwa River FSR on your left, proceed up Telkwa River FSR. Continue down the Telkwa River Forest Service Road for 21.1km, Jonas Creek Recreation Site will be on your left.
